Accessibility
Being bored should not require a mouse, a fast connection or perfect eyesight. Here is what this site does, and where it still falls short.
What works
- Every page can be navigated by keyboard, and the focused item is always clearly outlined.
- There is a skip link at the top of every page.
- Pages use real headings in order, so screen reader navigation works properly.
- All images have descriptions.
- Text meets contrast requirements against the background.
- Nothing depends on hovering, so touch screens work the same as mice.
- Sound never starts on its own. You turn it on.
Reduced motion
If your device is set to reduce motion, animations are switched off across the site. Where an experiment relies on movement, it shows the result in a single step instead.
Where it falls short
Some experiments are built around aiming, timing or dragging, and those are genuinely harder to use without a pointing device. Where a keyboard alternative is possible it has been added, but a few games remain easier with a mouse or a finger than with a keyboard alone.
